Easter Sunday Breakfast

The youth will be having their annual Easter Breakfast fundraiser and it is once again time to have our sign up sheets out to help keep the cost down by asking for food donations. Breakfast is by donations.  We would like to encourage you to invite your friends and neighbors to worship and breakfast. If this is a new person please feel free to have them come and enjoy breakfast at no cost. We will be serving at 8:00AM to 8:50 and again starting at 10:05 to 11:00.  With the change of service this year we will be reminding you to be respectful of the serving times and the noise level during the2nd service.  We will be setting up tables in the Sund Room for extra room. Please keep in mind we will not be serving during the 9:00 am service so our youth and cooks can enjoy Easter service.

Easter Egg Hunt and Celebration

It is once again time to invite our young children,

grandchildren, and neighbors to come and enjoy a

morning of games, crafts and an egg hunt.  This is

wonderful time to reach out to the community and

have them share in a fun event.  Spread the word Saturday 22nd 10:00am to 11:30 am

Wednesday Evenings

Lenten Study and Potluck

Join Pastor Jim each Wednesday evening during the season of Lent for a simple potluck dinner and Bible study. Our theme is Voices of Struggle, Change, and Radical Hospitality in a Violent World. We begin with a potluck dinner at 6 PM in the Fellowship Hall. Dishes, drinks, and utensils are provided. Over dinner we connect with others and share what’s happening in our lives. We pray. And then we dive into the Bible stories. Our schedule covers the following stories…

FISH

Most of  you are aware of our FISH Organization on the Peninsula because of  donating food the first Sun. of the month.  Did you know that FISH also provides transportation for people in our community who need transportation to the Dr. or dentist?  At present we have about 16 drivers, when we need 21 or 22 volunteers to be available one week day  a month. 6 members of  our congregation already are drivers.  However if there is anyone else who has one day a month that they could drive if needed, please call Janet Medcalf. This is a service that is much appreciated.

Flowers: Please consider signing up for a date to bring flowers in on a Sunday. Do you have a loved one's birthday, or a special anniversary you would like us to share with you. The sign up sheet for flowers has several openings! Pleas consider this vital ministry today.

Please save your Campbell Soup Labels.

Mindy has just sent in a batch of labels to McCurdy School.  She has discovered they may want her to save a different part of each label, so please save yours “whole” until she tells us how to trim them.

It is Holiday time and there are parties… which means there are potential pop pull-tabs that you could bring in for the Ronald McDonald House.  Our contributions help support housing for parents when they have a child hospitalized.

Maybe this could be a solution for you…

Do you need a ride to work, church, shopping or a medical appointment?  Are you stuck at home because you have no transportation?  Maybe Pierce Transit Shuttle can help.

This service is available to folks who cannot use the regular transit bus.  If you are eligible to ride the Shuttle, the little bus will pick you up at your home, take you to your destination, then come back later to take you home again.  Buses are equipped with lifts to accommodate walkers and wheelchairs.  The fare is $.75 each way.

To find out if you are eligible for this service, you must submit an application to Pierce Transit.  Call 984-8216 and ask them to send you an application form.  Complete it and send it back.  When your eligibility is confirmed, Pierce Transit will send you detailed instructions about using the service.

The shuttle is generally a convenient way of getting about.  However, it is a shared-ride service.  Other passengers may be scheduled to take the same bus with you.  When you reserve your ride with Pierce Transit, this extra time will be taken into consideration.

If you have questions, call Jean Robeson.  She uses the service and can help you get started, too.

Emergency Forms

Every once in a while there has been an emergency with someone in the church family and we have wanted to contact someone’s family.  Sometimes we have known a relative and been able to do this easily.  Sometimes it has been more of a challenge.  The older Adult Ministries Committee has developed a form for everyone in the church.  These purple forms were available during the photographing for the Pictorial Directory and many of you got yours filled out.  Thank you!

There are now blank purple Emergency Information Forms out on The Table.  Please fill them out and place them in the provided envelope.

Only the pastor will have this information/ these forms. The information will be treated as confidential.  The form asks for the name and phone of a family member to contact in case of an emergency (we figured that one relative would contact others who would need to know).  It would be OK to list a friend or neighbor who would know family to contact.  We are just trying to be pro-active and prepared in case there would ever be the need.  Again, this is for all the church family to fill out.  Thank you!  May we never really need this information...

Where is God at Work in the World?

This last year you were invited to join our Mission Committee in sponsoring four teens in Ecuador as they tried to get their high school educations.  In the poverty-stricken areas in the mountains of Ecuador, these students can only get a high school degree if they can pay the $250 a year for tuition and books.  The Missions Committee would like to add another four youth.  You will hear more about this in the near future.

On the first Sunday of the month we have the FISH barrel out in a prominent place.  That is because we have designated that first Sunday as FISH Sunday and encourage everyone to bring a donation for the FISH Food Bank.  The Food Bank feeds over 275 families (745 individuals) each month.  With cold weather here, some temporary jobs are ending and even more people will need a helping hand.  Can you add a bit extra to your own grocery cart and then bring it to the Barrel?  Any Sunday is fine, we just advertise the first one .

Prayer Line We have an active prayer line in the church.

If you have a prayer concern: call   Geraldine Shafer .Also call with up-dates to current Prayer Line concerns.  If you would like to receive prayer  concerns and pray for others  in our church family:    We are currently up-dating the call-lines for the Prayer Line so call   this week so you will be listed correctly on the latest list.

“Then you will call to Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”

Pieces of Love

Anyone is invited to come and help this group make charity quilts to share.  Periodically we see samples of their work on display during worship.  The quilts are given to chemo patients at a clinic and to families at the Renewal Shelter.  There are many ways you can come and help.  The gals are connected as a circle of United Methodist Women.  They meet from 4:00 to 7:00 Pm the first and third Thursdays on the month in the Fellowship Hall.
